As well as year round activities such as golf, diving and horse riding, during the summer months there are a wide range of organized activities, live music, flamenco, quiz nights, volley ball competitions and village fiestas. As in most Mediterranean countries, children are welcome just about every where. For younger children, there are many playgrounds dotted along the beach as well as organized activity groups supervised by professional nannies. All ages will enjoy Mojacar mini golf, Garrucha go - cart track, The Sorbas caves, Vera aqua park and Tabernas theme parks.
For those looking for an active holiday there is much to do. There is a full range of watersports including jet ski-ing, canoeing, water ski-ing, sailing, big game fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and scuba diving. If you have a head for heights why not take a flight in a microlight over the beach at the Indalo Wings Microlight Centre in Garrucha or try your hand at paragliding.
Also in the winter months there is skiing and snowboarding available in the Sierra Nevada mountains, situated just 2 hours drive from the beach.

Mini-Hollywood is a theme park in Almería built around an old spaghetti-western film set. For the Tabernas Desert, the only true desert in Europe, was a major film location in the sixties. This is where Clint Eastwood began his film career! There was a time, though, when the Spanish film industry was less buoyant, but the country itself was much in demand for locations - Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, Doctor Zhivago... The golden age of film-set Spain was the sixties and its capital was Almería. The nearby Tabernas desert, the only true desert in Europe, was a magnet to film producers, and a number of the sets that were used at the time can now be visited. Reserva Zoologica: The Wildlife park with Iberian and African Fauna which contains more than 100 different species. At the entrance you will find an area with a collection of exotic birds.
